In short: everything Tabivore keeps stays on your device, in the browser's local extension storage. The extension has no server, no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it sends nothing about you to the developer or to any third party.
What Tabivore is
Tabivore is a browser extension. A back swipe closes a tab that was opened from a link. Tabs, tab groups, links and quotes can be stashed on a shelf. The new tab page shows your favorite sites, the shelf and your bookmarks.
This text describes the extension's code. If the code changes in a way that changes this text, the text is changed with it.
What the extension reads

The extension does not read the content of the pages you visit. The script that runs on web pages only watches the swipe gesture and shows the extension's own hints and the note field.
What the extension stores
All of it is in chrome.storage.local. Short-lived state is in chrome.storage.session, which the browser keeps in memory and clears when it closes.
- favorite sites (address, name), sites you dismissed from the suggestions, and whether suggestions are on;
- stashed tabs and groups: address, title, the quote and note you added, the time, the group's name and color;
- settings: swipe length and direction, excluded sites, language, theme, auto-archive, which blocks the new tab page shows and where, and others;
- which bookmark folders are expanded;
- a short log of recent errors and of the swipe's recent decisions, used only to produce a bug report on your request. Web addresses, e-mail addresses and paths are cut out of the error texts. The log has no page titles, notes or quotes;
- in the session storage: which tab was opened from which tab;
- the automatic backup, which is off by default: the name of the folder you picked, the time of the last backup and the browser's permission handle for that folder (kept in the extension's IndexedDB).
If you turn the automatic backup on and pick a folder, then once a day (while the browser is open) the extension writes one JSON file with the data listed above, quotes and notes included, into that folder and keeps the last 14 files. The files are plain text in a folder of your choice, and nothing is sent over the network. You can turn it off at any time; the extension then forgets the folder (the files already written stay where they are).
Nothing is stored for tabs in private (incognito) windows: the extension refuses to stash them.
What is not sent anywhere
The extension makes no network requests of its own: no telemetry, no crash reporting, no remote configuration, no remote code. Fonts and icons are shipped inside the package. Site icons come from the browser's own favicon cache.
The only text that leaves your device is a search you start from the new tab page, and it goes to your search engine through the browser. Backups and bug reports are files or clipboard text that you create and send yourself. The “Report a problem…” button in the settings only copies the report to your clipboard and opens obukhov.dev/tabivore/feedback/ in a new tab; the extension itself sends nothing. A bug report contains versions, settings (without the list of excluded sites), counts and recent errors, and no web addresses, page titles, notes or quotes.

Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the extension's single purpose described above. It is not sold, not transferred to third parties, and not used for advertising, profiling or credit decisions.
Deleting your data
- Every list in the extension has a delete button, and "Clear" in the settings empties the error log.
- Removing the extension deletes all of its stored data from the browser.
- You can export your data to a JSON file in the settings at any time.
Children
The extension is not aimed at children and collects no personal data of anyone.

Расширение не читает содержимое посещаемых страниц. Скрипт на страницах только следит за жестом свайпа и показывает собственные подсказки расширения и поле заметки.
Что расширение хранит
Всё лежит в chrome.storage.local. Кратковременное состояние — в chrome.storage.session, которое браузер держит в памяти и очищает при закрытии.
- избранные сайты (адрес, название), сайты, скрытые из подсказок, и включены ли подсказки;
- отложенные вкладки и группы: адрес, название, добавленные вами цитата и заметка, время, имя и цвет группы;
- настройки: длина и направление свайпа, исключённые сайты, язык, тема, автоархив, какие блоки показывает новая вкладка и где они стоят, и другие;
- какие папки закладок раскрыты;
- короткий журнал последних ошибок и решений свайпа, нужный только для отчёта об ошибке по вашей просьбе. Из текстов ошибок вырезаются веб-адреса, e-mail и пути. В журнале нет заголовков страниц, заметок и цитат;
- в session storage — какая вкладка из какой открыта;
- автоматическая копия, по умолчанию выключена: имя выбранной папки, время последней копии и разрешение браузера на эту папку (хранится в IndexedDB расширения).
Если включить автоматическую копию и выбрать папку, то раз в день (пока браузер открыт) расширение записывает в эту папку один JSON-файл с перечисленными выше данными, включая цитаты и заметки, и хранит последние 14 файлов. Это обычные текстовые файлы в выбранной вами папке, по сети ничего не отправляется. Копию можно выключить в любой момент: расширение забудет папку, а уже записанные файлы останутся на месте.
Для вкладок в приватных окнах (инкогнито) ничего не хранится: расширение отказывается откладывать их.
Что никуда не отправляется
Расширение не делает собственных сетевых запросов: нет телеметрии, отчётов о сбоях, удалённой конфигурации и удалённого кода. Шрифты и значки поставляются внутри пакета. Значки сайтов берутся из собственного кеша значков браузера.
Единственный текст, который покидает устройство, — поиск, который вы запускаете с новой вкладки; он уходит в вашу поисковую систему через браузер. Резервные копии и отчёты об ошибках — это файлы или текст в буфере обмена, которые вы создаёте и отправляете сами. Кнопка «Сообщить о проблеме…» в настройках только копирует отчёт в буфер обмена и открывает в новой вкладке obukhov.dev/tabivore/feedback/; само расширение ничего не отправляет. В отчёте — версии, настройки (без списка исключённых сайтов), счётчики и последние ошибки, без веб-адресов, заголовков страниц, заметок и цитат.
Разрешения и зачем они нужны

Ограниченное использование данных
Использование информации, полученной через API Chrome, соответствует Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, включая требования Limited Use. Данные используются только для единственной цели расширения, описанной выше. Они не продаются, не передаются третьим лицам и не используются для рекламы, профилирования или оценки кредитоспособности.
Удаление данных
- У каждого списка в расширении есть кнопка удаления, а «Очистить» в настройках очищает журнал ошибок.
- Удаление расширения стирает все его данные из браузера.
- Данные можно в любой момент выгрузить в JSON-файл в настройках.
Дети
Расширение не предназначено для детей и не собирает персональных данных ни о ком.
Изменения и контакт
При изменении политики обновлённая версия публикуется на этой странице с новой датой вступления в силу вместе с версией расширения, к которой она относится.
